When it is the best answer
- When there is rock just under the topsoil.
- On a sloping plot, where one side needs digging and the other doesn't.
- When a digger can't get in.
- When you want the pool at the height of a terrace or deck.
What it wears
The panels are sealed from inside by the liner. Outside they need cladding, which also sets the style:
- Timber or composite decking in horizontal boards, warm and modern.
- White render on cement board, for an island look.
- Stone or tile, for houses with stone walls.
A wide coping on top makes a comfortable seat.

Seating, plants, light
A raised pool asks you to sit beside it. We build in a bench along the wall, planters at the corners and a hidden strip light under the coping that makes the pool seem to float at night. See LED lighting.
Safety
A 60 or 80 centimetre wall makes an accidental fall by a small child harder, but it doesn't replace supervision, a fence or a cover.
