Gutter, grating, tank
The gutter can run around the whole pool or along one or two sides. A grating covers it and you walk on it normally. Below the gutter, pipes take the water to a tank, usually hidden next to the plant room.
In our build the gutter has its own steel frame and is lined with the same liner, so the colour carries on without a break.

Why it needs a tank
Every body that enters the pool raises the level, and the extra water spills into the gutter. The balance tank holds it until it returns. We size it from the water surface and how many people will swim at once. A float valve tops up the water when evaporation lowers the level.
Send a photo of your garden on WhatsApp. The technician usually answers the same day.
Which liner gives the mirror
The darker the liner, the stronger the reflection. Charcoal, dark grey or black make the surface look like glass. Light colours give bright, tropical water with less mirror. See water colour.

Where it pays off most
- Plots with a view of the sea, a village or the mountains.
- Villas and rentals, where photos bring bookings: see pool for villas.
- Modern houses with floors at the same level as the water.
On very windy plots or under lots of trees, a skimmer pool is often more practical.
